Cultural Celebrations: The Pow Wow is a spectacular display of tradition, featuring the rhythmic beating of the drum and the breathtaking colors of traditional regalia. Witness the Grand Entry, the thrilling Jingle Dress and Fancy Dance competitions, and enjoy delicious traditional foods like fresh bannock and wild meat stew available from local vendor tents. It is a profound and joyous opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate with the local First Nations community.
The Great Fish Derby: For the outdoor enthusiasts, the Fish Derby takes over the beautiful shores of Lac La Biche Lake. Anglers of all ages can cast their lines hoping to catch the biggest walleye, pike, or perch. Prizes are awarded for the largest catch, longest fish, and a special draw prize for the youngest participants. Even if you don’t fish, the lakefront is the perfect place to relax, swim, and enjoy the summer sun.
Know Before You Go: Fishing licenses are required for the derby and can be purchased on-site. Respectful photography is encouraged during the Pow Wow, but please ask dancers for permission before taking close-up portraits. Food and craft vendors will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM.
